I navigate my way through my personal life and my work life, guided by my core values, and these are:
- Caring
- Connection
- Communication
- Curiosity
- Commitment, and
- Flexibility
If you seek out my assistance I will not promise you eternal happiness. However, I will assist you to develop the skills that will move you closer to a richer, fuller and more meaningful life.
I have a particular interest and expertise working with people who suffer the crippling effects of anxiety, depression and low self confidence. I am also able to assist those seeking to make major life transitions.
My story is not unlike many of yours. I was brought up during the transitional years of the 60 & 70's: and all that went with this era. My education was basic; like so many of my piers it was expected that I would leave school and find a "job for life" At 16 I entered the work world of unskilled labour; my like of this was short lived and I returned to finish my schooling some 4 years later. And due to the input and encouragement of some truly wonderful teachers I developed a passion for learning that that still burns bright.
In 1980 I graduated from LaTrobe University with a BA, a Dip. Ed and an intense interest in Philosophy (Eastern & Western). My interest in Eastern Philosophy soon blossomed into enrolling in an Acupuncture course. During this time I spent several ears teaching Humanities and Psychology in secondary schools.
Fast forward a couple of decades, several courses and more qualifications later, a stint as a University lecturer and now much of my professional focus is on Life Coaching.
Now in my mid 50's, I still find learning such an exciting experience and the greatest leanings I have are from my children and my clients; especially when they experience those "light bulb" moments.
Other than that, you can find me pursuing my other passions. Snapping photographs (this would have been my first choice in careers, but in those days one was far more practical) has always played a major role in my life. I also have a passion for digital art (ie photoshopping); I love reading (Tim Winton being my favourite author), writing (no I'm not published - may never be, but what the heck!), gardening (looking, more so than doing), and everything to do with the science of brain neuroplasticity.
However, my greatest passions are for making the world a better place for our children and grandchildren. So I am passionately vocal about the environment, education, personal responsibility, and giving every one the chance to live a full, rich and meaningful life.
